I specialise in panoramic images shot from the precarious instability of my sea kayak. Whenever I’m away, I take the opportunity to visit those beautiful locations which can only be fully enjoyed from the water. In many cases, secret places that can never be reached by land.
Here in Dorset I paddled round Brownsea Island in Poole harbour, enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery in the south of England. Blessed with light winds and a clear blue sky – a perfect combination for photography from the water – I made my way out from the Studland nature reserve, and across the channel towards the island. Taking an anticlockwise route, which first took in the multitude of yachts moored outside Poole itself, I paddled round to the back of the island and the tranquil waters of the Wareham channel, lined by gentle curves of the Purbeck hills.
